On Thursday, December 5, 2567 (2024), at 4:00 p.m., the Most Venerable Phra Dhammawachirodom, Associate Professor, Ph.D., Ecclesiastical Governor of Region 6, Deputy Chief of the Pali Studies Council, Deputy Chairperson of the Office of Oversea Dhammaduta Affairs, Vice Rector for Student Affairs of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU), Secretary to the Committee of the Center for Foreign Travel Control for Monks and Novices, and Abbot of Wat Sangwej Witsayaram, graciously granted an audience to Ven. Phramaha Surasak Paccantaseno, Assistant Abbot of Wat Ratchasittharam, Vice Rector for Foreign Affairs, Director of the MCU Bharat Studies Center, Chair of the Mahayana Studies Center, and Chair of the Committee for the Overseas Dhammaduta Training Program. The meeting took place at the Abbot\u2019s Office, Wat Sangwej Witsayaram, Bangkok.<\/div>\n

The Most Venerable Phra Dhammawachirodom is a highly revered and accomplished senior monk with significant contributions to education, the administration of the Sangha, and the advancement of Buddhist universities. Among his notable achievements is the drafting of the Act on Buddhist Ecclesiastical Education, B.E. 2562 (2019), which has become a vital foundation for the formal education of Buddhist monks in Thailand. Furthermore, he has made substantial contributions to the administration and development of the Sangha and Buddhist universities, serving as a leading figure in policy implementation and the promotion of Buddhist education and dissemination both nationally and internationally. His work has greatly advanced the progress and prosperity of the Sangha, educational institutions, and individuals alike.<\/div>\n

Phra Dhammawachirodom holds the highest level of monastic education (Pali 9), a Bachelor of Buddhist Studies with First-Class Honors, and advanced degrees (M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D.) in Linguistics from the University of Delhi. He also served as the former Chairperson of the Thai Student Monks\u2019 Association in Delhi. His exceptional proficiency in Pali, Thai, and English is widely recognized, making him a distinguished scholar and administrator in the field of Buddhist education both in Thailand and abroad.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

On this occasion, the Director of the MCU Bharat Studies Center presented a report to the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and former Chairperson of the Thai Student Monks\u2019 Association in Delhi on the following topics:<\/div>\n

1. The operations and development plans of the MCU Bharat Studies Center, with a focus on strengthening relationships with the University of Delhi and other institutions in India.<\/div>\n
2. Preparations for the Inauguration Ceremony of the Bharat Studies Center of MCU.<\/div>\n
3. Plans for the MCU India Alumni Conference.<\/div>\n
4. Proposals for an International Seminar on Indian Philosophy.<\/div>\n
Additionally, the Chair of the Overseas Dhammaduta Training Program Committee presented a report to the Deputy Chairperson of the Office of Oversea Dhammaduta Affairs on the following matters:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

1. The 31st Overseas Dhammaduta Training Program for 2568 (2025).<\/div>\n
2. The Domestic and International Lay Dhammaduta Training Programs.<\/div>\n
3. Curricula for Overseas Dhammaduta Training, including certificate programs, diploma programs, and master\u2019s degree programs in Buddhist Studies (Dhammaduta Major).<\/div>\n
4. The establishment of the Overseas Dhammaduta Training Center at Wat Rakhang Japan, Japan.<\/div>\n
