On Monday, January 6, 2025, at 5:00 PM, Venerable Phramaha Surasak Paccantaseno, Vice-Rector for Foreign Affairs and Acting Director of the Bharat Studies Center, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU), along with Venerable Master Jian Hui, Abbot of Chung Tai Chan Monastery, Bangkok, led a delegation comprising executives from Dhammaduta College, the ASEAN Studies Center, and the International Relations Division, as well as the executive committee of Chung Tai Chan Monastery, to visit Phnom Bakheng Temple, Angkor Thom, Kingdom of Cambodia.<\/div>\n

The visit was part of an initiative to foster goodwill and strengthen ties with the Cambodian Sangha. The delegation also aimed to study the cultural heritage and historical development of Therav\u0101da, Mah\u0101y\u0101na, Vajray\u0101na Buddhism, and Brahmanic-Hindu traditions in Southeast Asia. The visit, held from January 5 to 7, 2025, provided insights into the region\u2019s religious and cultural evolution from the past to the present.<\/div>\n

The delegation from Chung Tai Chan Monastery included Venerable Master Jian Chen, Dharma Master Jian Qiu, Venerable Master Jian Mian, Venerable Master Jian Jin, and members of the monastery\u2019s executive committee. Their shared interest in the historical and spiritual growth of Buddhism and Hinduism in Southeast Asia underscored the importance of this study tour.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Since the formalization of relations between MCU and Chung Tai Chan Monastery through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 29, 2022, both institutions have worked together to promote Buddhist education, dissemination, and preservation. This collaboration has continued to flourish, resulting in impactful initiatives such as this cultural and historical study tour.<\/div>\n

Organized jointly by Dhammaduta College, the International Relations Division, and Chung Tai Chan Monastery, the study tour spanned multiple locations. From January 3 to 4, 2025, the delegation visited the Phimai Historical Park and Phanom Rung Historical Park in Thailand. From January 5 to 7, they explored the temples of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Banteay Srei, Preah Khan, Ta Prohm, and Phnom Bakheng in Cambodia.<\/div>\n

On the same day, the Vice-Rector for Foreign Affairs also led the delegation to pay their respects to Samdech Preah Brahmaratanamuni Pin-Sem Siresuvanno, Supreme Advisor of the Board Sangha Committee and a senior Therav\u0101da monk in Cambodian Buddhism. This visit further strengthened inter-monastic relations and fostered cultural exchange.<\/div>\n

Among the distinguished members of the delegation were Phra Khru Sutaratanabundit, Director of the Dhammaduta College; Venerable Phramaha Jirawat Kantavano, Director of the ASEAN Studies Center; Venerable Phramaha Kosol Thirapanjo, Director of the International Relations Division; Mr. Thanin Meas, International Relations Officer; and Ms. Paweena Singkhankha, International Relations Officer of MCU.
