On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 9:09 AM, Vice-Rector for Foreign Affairs, Venerable Phramaha Surasak Paccantaseno, Acting Director of the Bharat Studies Center, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU), together with Venerable Dharma Master Jian Wen, Abbot of Chung Tai Chan Monastery, Bangkok, led a delegation consisting of executives from the Dhammaduta College, ASEAN Studies Center, International Relations Division, and the administrative committee of Chung Tai Chan Monastery to visit Banteay Srei Temple in the Kingdom of Cambodia.<\/div>\n

The delegation embarked on this journey to strengthen ties with the Cambodian Sangha and to explore the art, culture, history, and development of Theravada, Mahayana, Vajrayana Buddhism, and Hindu-Brahmin traditions in the Southeast Asian region from January 5\u20137, 2025.<\/div>\n

Venerable Master Jian Wen, along with Venerable Masters Jian Chen, Jian Qiu, Jian Mian, Jian Jin, and the administrative committee of Chung Tai Chan Monastery, expressed a deep interest in the history, evolution, and prosperity of Buddhism\u2014Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana\u2014as well as Hindu traditions in the Southeast Asian region, tracing their significance from ancient times to the present day.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MCU and Chung Tai Chan Monastery on November 29, 2022, both institutions have collaborated to promote Buddhist education, dissemination, and preservation. This cultural and historical study tour reflects their ongoing efforts to strengthen these initiatives.<\/div>\n

The Cultural and Historical Study Tour of Buddhism in Southeast Asia was organized by the Dhammaduta College and the International Relations Division in collaboration with Chung Tai Chan Monastery. The tour took place from January 3\u20134, 2025, at the Phimai Historical Park and Phanom Rung Historical Park in Thailand, and from January 5\u20137, 2025, at Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Banteay Srei, Preah Khan, Ta Prohm, and Phnom Bakheng in the Kingdom of Cambodia.<\/div>\n

On this occasion, on Monday, January 6, at 1:09 PM, the Vice-Rector for Foreign Affairs led the delegation to pay homage to Samdech Preah Brahmaratanamuni Pin Sem Siresuvanno, Supreme Advisor of the Board Sangha Committee and Theravada Sangha Council of Cambodian Buddhism, to foster amicable relations.<\/div>\n

The delegation also included Phra Khru Sutaratanabundit, Director of the Dhammaduta College; Venerable Phramaha Jirawat Kantavano, Director of the ASEAN Studies Center; Venerable Phramaha Kosol Thirapanjo, Director of the International Relations Division; Mr. Thanin Meas, International Relations Officer; and Ms. Paweena Singkhankha, International Relations Officer of MCU, who joined the mission with great honor.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

This historic journey not only deepened mutual understanding but also emphasized the shared commitment to the advancement and preservation of Buddhism in the region.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
