MCU Holds Funeral & Cremation Ceremony of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh

On 29 January 2565/2022 Time: 08:30 MCU: Dr. Phra Sophonvachirabhorn, (Sawai Chotiko), Agga Maha Pundita, Vice-Rector for Foreign Affairs of MCU, is the chairman holding a ceremony of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh’s Funeral & Cremation. Thay (Thich Nhat Hanh), who was the founder of Plum Village Monastery in France and Zen Buddhism Practice Centers in many countries like U.S.A, Germany, and Thailand, has been a teacher and guiding light for so many of human beings, and his transition is a great loss to all. He had passed away peacefully on 22nd Jan 2022 the age of 95 in Vietnam.

Most Venerable Master had made tremendous contributions to promote Buddhism, provide charitable services, and enhance in social harmony for the peoples around the world. He was also one of the leading roles to promote and co-operate between Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU) and Plum Village Monastery signing MOU since 2011 as well as MCU offered an Honorary Doctorate Degree on him in Buddhist Psychology in 2011.

The ceremony was attended by MCU administrators, lecturers, staff and foreign students onsite at conference room 401, Rector Building, MCU, Ayutthaya and also via online zoom conference by International Relations Division & Dhammaduta College.
